WORRYING CAN KILL YOU
Last Sunday, Pastor Max started his sermon by reading part of an article from Leadership Journal. “The leading cause of death in the United States is not cancer or heart disease. That distinction belongs to the ‘bug’ of worry and anxiety.” The article went on to say that as many as 70% of patients in hospitals are there because of illnesses brought on by worry.
Pastor Max used the apostle Paul as a model for how to minimize worrying, after explaining to us that worrying to some degree is a part of being alive. Paul’s attributes are that he…
- believed in accentuating the positive instead of the negative.
- would rather focus on God than upon his own troubles and afflictions.
- lived his life for Jesus instead of himself.
He concluded his message with this thought: “Place your worry and anxiety at the feet of Jesus because he cares for you.”

Yes. Yes! A big “Amen”. Resting in the arms of Jesus….is a very healthy place to be.
