Walking My Granddog on December 27

I just came back inside after walking Ossi, a Miniature Schnauzer, 11 years old and totally blind. He trusts that Grampa will guide him safely so he can get some exercise and do his business. But sometimes he strains against the leash to go in a direction that would lead him into the back of a car or off into deep snow. Those are the times I tighten the leash to keep him out of trouble.

Isn’t that the way it is with God? He’ll gently guide us along safe paths with plenty of slack in the line. But when we stray off into dangerous territory, He’ll tighten the tether to draw us closer to Him – if we have prayed for Him to do so and hearken to his correction. Lord,  amidst all the busyness and clamor of the secular world drawing me toward it, I pray You keep me on a short leash today.
