SHIRLEY’S TESTIMONY Part Two

Saturday, April 28th, 2018

Jasmine suggested Shirley get into a program for women at Adult and Teen Challenge in Minneapolis, but Shirley didn’t want to put her life on hold for three months or 13 months if she went with the long-term program. Jasmine kept suggesting; Shirley kept hesitating.

One day she agreed to drive by the place in Minneapolis to see what it looked like, but she didn’t know if she’d go inside the building or not. She drove around South Minneapolis to find the women’s facility but had trouble locating it.

Finally she ran out of gas and limped into a gas station, but she didn’t have enough money to buy any fuel. She was angry and frustrated. Plus it wasn’t a good neighborhood. It was a pre-pay station because of the neighborhood.

There was a woman in a car on the other side of the pump that asked her if she were having trouble. When Shirley told her about running out of gas, the woman stopped filling her car up and proceeded to put half of the gas she had prepaid for into Shirley’s car.

Shirley thanked her and asked her where the woman’s facility of Adult and Teen Challenge was. The woman said she worked there and it was only a couple blocks away. (to be continued)
