PRAYING FOR LIFE AND DEATH
There are a number of people I pray for whose lives are hanging somewhere in the balance between life and death; a few are tipping precariously toward the death side.
Then there’s Uncle Marvin. He’s not my real uncle but became the model for a fictional uncle in a mystery novel I published. Marv is dying of muscular dystrophy and has reached a point in the progression of his disease where each day is a bit more miserable than the one before. I at first hesitated to pray that he would soon die; after all, who am I to guess at God’s will? Then I prayed long and hard about the matter and realized it was definitely in God’s will that Marv would come to Him. There was no doubt in my mind about that. So I now pray for God to speed up the day when His will shall be done. I feel at peace with that prayer.
