PILATE

In the 23rd chapter of Luke, we see Pilate handing over Jesus to the will of the chief priests, the rulers, and the  people, even though he found no grounds for the death penalty. Pilate knew Jesus was innocent but gave Him over to death. Why?

Pilate was looking out for what was best for Pilate in this world. He sacrificed Jesus rather than confronting the crowd any further and risking the power of his position. He gave up the then for the now.

It is now 2,000 years later and Pilate is most likely in hell. What good did his good life (from the standpoint of the world) do him? The point is this: suffer now and keep your eyes on the prize – eternal life in heaven with God.
