MY FRIEND TONY

Tuesday, February 16th, 2021

Tony was released from jail last Saturday and had no place to go except his deceased father’s unheated home. It was 20 below that night, as Tony, draped with blankets, huddled in front of a small space heater. At 2 a.m. Sunday morning, he called a suicide hot line and told them he was freezing to death. Soon the police arrived and an ambulance hauled him away to a mental health unit in a Minneapolis hospital. That’s where he is today.

I have no doubt that Tony is a Christ follower of long standing. I also know that he’s mentally ill and unable to hold a job long term or interact with more than a few people at a time. In the Old West, he would have been the consummate mountain man.

I’m the only friend Tony has right now, and I don’t know how to help him other than to pray with him (oh, what a passionate prayer he is!) and be there for him. He is destitute and doesn’t even have the wherewithal to be homeless again. He’d make a good caretaker for a property in exchange for the place to live in, a bit of food, and some clothing. I know of no such possibility.

If you have any ideas for Tony, please reply to this posting or send me an email at pday56201@yahoo.com.

  1. Bob Hopman Says:

When we stand before God on Judgment day we will not be ask to account for our earthly sins, They have been covered by Jesus blood. I believe we will be judged for what we did in life for the kingdom of God. Even though we are currently distanced from each other right now, I am so grateful for The relationship I have had with you ever since I read your first book. I know God is right now thanking you for your efforts to help Tony. I could provide some clothing and money for food if that would help. I would need your instruction and direction.
