MONDAY NIGHT PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE
Who won the presidential debate Monday night? The answer to that question depends on your world view. But here is something more important than your world view, and that can be found in the 5th chapter of Joshua.
Joshua was on a surveillance mission before attacking Jericho when he met a man with a sword whom Bible scholars believe is Jesus. Joshua asks Him, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” Jesus answers, “Neither, but as the commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.”
Jesus is telling Joshua that he’s asking the wrong question. The right question is, “Are you for Me?” And so it is today. It’s not whether God is on the side of Clinton or Trump; it’s whether we’re on the side of the commander of the army of the Lord, no matter who wins. Don’t unduly worry about which candidate wins the presidency. Be more concerned with whether you have a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
