LITTLE ALICE
For two days last August, I took care of my three-year-old granddaughter by myself for the first time. I soon realized it was all about Alice and what she wanted. There was no time for doing my things, and that was fine with me. I love my little Alice deeply and was ready to be her servant. We went to the library to pick out books she wanted, and read them when we returned home. We played the games she wanted to play. I told her more than ten “Tommy Stories,” about an imaginary character I created who’s always getting into trouble. We talked endlessly on topics of her choosing. And so the days went. It was a joyful time for me.
Isn’t that a wonderful picture of what our relationship to Jesus should be? No self-centered agendas. Just follow Him as a servant, ready to live your life for God.
“James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.” James 1:1. Substitute your own name for James with a firm commitment, and you’ll be who God wants you to be.
