God is Holy, and I am not. He is the pure, intense fire that I see in the fireplace downstairs, and I am corrupted by sin in my natural self. If I come to close to Him, I will burn up.
His Son, Jesus Christ is Holy, and I am not. He came to earth to impart His Holiness unto me – if I align myself with Him through salvation and acknowledging His sovereignty over my life. He is the tuning fork, and I am a string in the piano that vibrates to His true sound wave.
Only through His death on the cross can Holiness be available to me. When I stand before God and pray in the name of Jesus, I am saying, “I can’t stand before you, Father God, but I can come before You in the name of Jesus Christ who dwells within me. I stand behind Him because He is Holy, and I am not. It is we who come before You, not I alone, and Jesus is my Representative before You, and I am but His follower.”
