EZEKIEL 36 AND COVID-19

We have profaned God’s holy name among the nations. We have devoured men and have deprived our nation of its children. We have done that which will cause our nation to fall. We have defiled our land by our conduct and our actions. [paraphrases of verses in Ezekiel 36]

We deserve God’s wrath and the destruction of our nation because of our abandonment of God and our chasing after power, material wealth, and doing life our way. We see that this pandemic is no less than what we deserve, as the Israelite nation deserved 70 years of captivity because they turned away from their God. But instead, God will show mercy to us if we turn from our ways and return to Him.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you” (Ezekiel 36:26-27).

Let this be your prayer today for yourself, your family, your friends and acquaintances, and for this nation and world.
