DESPERATION
Melissa was a devout Christian who began each morning with Scripture reading and prayer. Her mind was filled with the glory of Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit…until she opened the front doors of Harrison Manufacturing. Then her mind became filled with supervising 100 people and all the other details of her job. Every evening when she left work, she was ashamed she had left Jesus out in the street.
One evening, when she had come home late after an especially grueling day at work, she cried out in desperation, “Lord, I’m frustrated and troubled that I can’t keep You in mind more than a few minutes here and there at work. Today, I forgot about You completely. Help me stay close to You throughout the day, I beg You.” However it happens, she heard a still small voice within her, not audible in any sense of the word, but there nevertheless. “Melissa, to remember Me, you must forget about yourself.”
