COME NEAR TO GOD
Come near to God and He will come near to you. – James 4:8
The idea of asking Jesus to follow along after you is not theologically sound. He is always within you, above you, beside you, behind and before – if you are a believer. The question is not whether He’s with you but whether you are His follower or ignoring Him and trotting along oblivious to His presence.
When we find ourselves in that latter condition, then we are to come nearer to God through praise, worship, prayer, reading the Bible, blessing the poor soul standing in front of us, or a thousand other things. When we do so, God will come rushing toward us like the father ran to greet his returning prodigal son.
