Last Sunday, I went to a service at Crossroads Church in Woodbury, Minnesota. It’s our oldest son’s church, and we were there for the weekend. This particular Sunday was Crossroads Youth Service Sunday, and my wife and I were in for a big treat.
Twelve young people declared that they wanted to follow Jesus for the rest of their lives by being baptized (full immersion) in a large container filled with water, which was just below the platform where the service took place. One by one, each youth climbed a ladder into the container, where two ministers were waiting for them. Down they went sinners to the core and up they came new creations in Christ. As they then climbed up a ladder and out of the container, the congregation clapped their hands, cheered, and raised their hands in celebration.
A life-change by choice, declared in a public setting. The smiles of the twelve young people when they came up out of the water was palpable.Yes, it was a wonderful Sunday.
