“The centurion replied, ‘For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes ; and that one, ‘come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.’ When Jesus heard this, He was astonished.” Matthew 8:8-10
The centurion recognized and accepted Jesus’ authority, and Jesus said to those following Him that He had “not found anyone in Israel of such great faith.”
God the Father put Jesus in authority over all mankind by virtue of His death on the cross and His glorious resurrection. When we accept that authority without question, we too will have a faith that astonishes Jesus.
